What's the GO with GMO?

We know that GMO stands for GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISM, right?  But…What is the actual process of GMO?  How is agriculture genetically modified?  And what are the implications?

The process of genetic engineering involves changing the genetic makeup of an organism in a laboratory.  There are two different processes that may be utilised for undertaking this task. One such process involves inserting genes from other species. An example may be the insertion of viral or bacterial genes into plants, like soybeans or corn.  The other option is Gene Editing,  meaning that the genes are artificially re-arranged.  Neither of these two processes are natural.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOST OF THE GENETIC MODIFICATION IN AGRICULTURE?

A company named Bayer Monsanto, created Roundup Ready herbicide.  This is specially formulated to control annual and perennial weed types, both before and after the sowing of Roundup Ready, GMO, seeds.  These genetically modified Roundup Ready seeds include soy, corn, cotton, canola, sugar beets and alfalfa.  They allow crops sprayed with roundup to survive. Under normal circumstances crops sprayed with Roundup would be killed, because Roundup is a herbicide.  Bayer Monsanto hold most of the GMO seeds.

IF THIS COMPANY SEEMS TO BE HELPING CONTROL WEEDS IN AGRICULTURE, WHAT IS ALL THE CONTROVERSY ABOUT?

One of the problems lies in the adverse health reactions connected to glyphosate, the herbicide found in Roundup.  In the USA alone, where glyphosate is one of the most widely used herbicides, there are more than 30 diseases rising in parallel to the use of Roundup.  Glyphosate is classified as a probable human carcinogen and is patented as an antibiotic.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES ROUNDUP and/or GLYPHOSATE DO TO CROPS & INSECTS and HUMANS?

Very basically speaking, and initially, Roundup penetrates the plant and its chief poison, glyphosate, ends up in the food we eat.  Glyphosate, some may say, is ‘”probably carcinogenic to humans”, although there have not been enough studies in humans to confirm this.  Rigorous testing has however confirmed a link to glyphosate and cancer in animals.  It’s not something I’d like to risk entering my body, that’s for sure.  Another main trait is that these GMO crops have been engineered to produce a toxin called BT Toxin, that kills insects by poking holes in the walls of their guts.  The creators blindly assumed that this BT toxin had no effect on human cells, however science has shown, in the laboratory, that human cells exposed to high concentrations of the toxin, are in fact developing the same size or type of holes, and this may be increasing the permeability of our intestinal walls, hence the incidence ‘leaky gut’.

WHY IS LEAKY GUT A PROBLEM?

Leaky gut is linked to many different diseases.  Food is normally broken down into tiny pieces and absorbed through the walls of the intestine, so that our body is able to uptake a supply of nutrients.  However, when there are holes or gaps in the lining of the digestive tract, big lumps of undigested proteins are able to pass through the barrier and move into the bloodstream.  Our immune system thinks there is a foreign object and attacks it as an intruder.  The body then goes into high alert and tells itself to attack anything  like this intruder, however the body gets it wrong and starts attacking anything that looks like that protein, which may be the thyroid or pancreas etc.  And there we have autoimmunity.  Leaky gut is also linked to cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, autism and inflammation in general.  Inflammation is the basis of most disease.  This is just touching the surface of detrimental effects other problems may include mineral deficiencies within the body, sleep disorders, the destruction of the gut microbiome, the effects upon hormones and the impact on not only children but the foetus in utero.  The concerning health effects are mounting.

DO WE NEED GMO’S IN AGRICULTURE, OR AT ALL FOR THAT FACT?

There are the developers and others out there believing and supporting the claim the GMO crops are essential to provide increased food  production for the growing population of the world.  However, studies, depending on where the funding is generated from, may or may not agree with this statement.  In fact, data reveals that increasing yield is not a problem.  We currently have more food per person than any other time in history, yet 1 billion people go to bed at night hungry or malnourished.  A comprehensive study conducted by over 400 scientists and sponsored by the United Nations and the World Bank, found that GMO crops have nothing to offer feeding the hungry, eradicating poverty or creating sustainable agriculture.  Farmers are no longer able to seed save and have to purchase seeds every year.  Dangerous side effects, besides ill health, such as death and suicide, have been seen and documented.  You be the judge.

GMO’s ARE MAKING QUITE AN IMPACT,  BOTH NEGATIVELY & POSITIVELY.  IS THERE ANY GOOD NEWS?

There is good news!  You can make the choice to buy and consume organic.  Organic products must not be derived from GMO’s.  Making the switch to organic is producing amazing results in the overall health and wellness of people globally.  Even those asymptomatic are noticing improved energy levels, increased concentration and memory and even positively modified behaviour in children, when making the swap to organic.

IS THERE A REAL FOOD, ORGANIC SUPPLEMENT THAT MAY ASSITS MY BODY TO DEAL WITH THE TOXIC BURDEN OF GLYPHOSATE?

My family & I have been taking Nature's Mineral Boost for over 6 years now. It is a fantastic natural & organic supplement suitable for the entire family. It doesn’t have an overpowering taste, is cost effective & supports our overall health & wellbeing.

Made in Australia using Australian Peat.

What is PEAT?

Peat is vegetation that was laid down 1000's of years ago & broken down by microorganisms. In the peat there are Carbon Redox molecules & the communication system that the bacteria used. When we extract it, we are actually extracting the fulvic & humic minerals (plant based dirt) out of the peat. This extract contains; minerals, fulvic & humic acids, the communication system for the bacteria, as well as the carbon redox molecule. The benefits of consuming Nature's Mineral Boost every morning in a cup of water, juice, or your smoothie include:
